What kind of sealer is used to seal the head gasket? The RTV orange I have says not to use on a head gasket. The FSM says to use part #1057794 or equivalent.

I've never done this, so, any advice? I have the engine out of the car to fix the oil pan/rear main leaks, but the head had a seep also. I have it on an engine stand, and the cherry picker is still attached to the head.

The last step in the FSM, after the head has been removed, is to remove the spark plugs. I have the plugs out already, is there a reason they should be in when the head is removed?

I have a Felpro gasket.

With a Fel-Pro gasket, the correct answer is "None." Composition gaskets don't use sealant.

OK, no sealer, thanks!

This may seem like a really dumb question to those in the know, but, should I remove the cups under the push rods before I take it to the machine shop for surfacing? It seems they would just fall out anyway.

Duh! OK, as I was undoing the head bolts I realized those are in the block. Never mind.
