Hey Doug!

Fopar and I were talking about staying at the track when we go to Vegas. Is there any provision for Tent Camping, or do I need to drag a Trailer down there? Any amenities on site?

I think I can speak with authority here....

The trouble with camping at LV is that the pits are paved (no pegging)and there is no wind sheltering. When I was there 2 years ago I lost a tipi and Dodge had their big inflatable car things buggertup from wind.

We are talking 3--40 mph winds.

The Strip is not equipped for tenting....

The have nice washrooms......

Rooms are cheap in LV.

Iagree that the wind can be the biggest issue.
I usually split the cost of a cheap room with some friends but if I were to sleep at the track, I would just sleep in my car. (the fold-down rear seat in the wagon or Dacuda makes this a good option)

I am feeling much better about the Las Vegas event now that we have a new engine installed and running in the drag car.

Allen and I have our pre-register package and a friend has offered to share a room with us at the Super-8... so we are like 90% there. (the other 10% will be getting there, a 500 mile "flat tow" should never be taken "lightly")

So that puts at least 2 cars in the bracket. I am betting that Romeo's car will be in... Guzzi Mark has his room booked.
Who else is ready? Or at least 80% ready? (50% ready.... thinking about going???) :? 8)

This is a lot of fun, we usually do Friday night prime rib at Jerry's Nugget and then Saturday night "all you can eat" at the Main Street station... then off to other activities, and there are lot's of things to do and see... it's Vegas, Baby!!
Come join the fun...

I'm supposed to pick my stroker engine up this afternoon.

I may just put the fresh tranny and converter behind my old engine, run it with the 7-1/4" rear and save the 8" swap till I get back. I can swap in the LBP axles from another 7-1/4" I have to get the same wheels installed front and rear.

With the added stroke, I will need to get the new engine tuned before charging off on a two thousand mile joy ride. The stroker will be susceptible to High Speed detonation, so running lean is not an option.

With two months between Vegas and Medford, I will have time to tune up the new power plant.

I'm getting nowhere fast on this project.

My transmission is back together, parts are back from machine shop.
Have to put all the stuff together and install in car.
This should be a fun event as it looks like I might be the only Non-Mopar
bodied car there. Again thanks to Doc, Romeo and Phil Painter for the chance to run a non-Mopar body with a slant six at this event.

Hope to find out from Ceej, which event at Woodburn will be available for a slant six points race. He is the last one to talk to them. Now it looks like we need only to get Seymour to sanction the race.

My car has run for half an hour....needs an alignment, brakes rebled, clutch adjusted, valves set, and everything else a 48 hour/ 80 mph trip would demand.

I might get it to the highway today.

Sandy and I are on the same "track"...

I re-adjusted the valve lash, put-on the valve cover, air cleaner and had to retighten some oil pan bolts.

Drove to the corner gas station for a few gallons of fresh fuel and did some up & down on the RPMs to get the rings seated... this engine is working.

I have a leaking wheel cylinder on the right rear that gets fixed tomorrow.
We will also hook up the N2O system and "sweep it out" if we have enough time.
We are on schedule & the focus will shift to the 66 Dart wagon, to get it ready for the tow.

I made a few trips to the store( 2 miles)....nothing leaks...it pulls right on braking....the winter snow broke the wiper arm on the driver side. I need to rotate the driveshaft 180 (a vibration I didnt have before). The whole car needs a good cleanout. I bought an oil pressure gauge in Albeerta.....I need to install that. I will need to install a fan....and when its on the hoist getting an alignment I will install the trans blanket.....and put bolts in the trans mount. New defroster hoses today.

We got home from Alberta at noon yesterday....a snowy trip over the Rogers Pass (6 hours)....so I wasn t really in a driving mood....

.......but I did a rolling 1st gear burnout...... I am Pleased.

De (the Wife) is now talking about coming along.....just for the ride. I told her I need to know soon....as amenities I dont need may need to be considered.
