OK I have all the disc brake parts from a 72 duster, going onto my 9 inch drum brake magicdart- I know that I must change some ball joints around.. the Napa parts guy says it looks like the LOWER ball joints need to be changed. I thought it was the UPPER ball joints need to be changed.

Which is it ?? Help

Upper Control Arms must be changed to accept the bigger ball joints. Lower ball joints need to be changed to the 73 up style, so you will need to change all the ball joints.

the discs are from a 72 duster with 4 inch bolt pattern.
I have the rotors calipers wheel bearings master cyl hoses etc.
I want these to go onto my 68 dart that currently has 9 in drums.
Do I really need to change control arms, or just ball joints ??

With '72 discs, you'd just need to swap ball joints and not control arms.

Sorry, I didn't notice you said 72, I thought you said 73. I have never done that swap, so I don't know how accurate my info was.

If you have the '72 Kelsey Hayes setup, you should be able to just switch knuckles and maybe lower ball joints. If you have the tools (or you can make them) you can do the swap without even damaging the ball joint boots.

Check the bolt pattern on the knuckle to fit the lower ball joint- on these cars the wheel's steering arm is part of the lbj.
