It has come to my attention that these http://tinyurl.com/3284j3 battery terminals are really for tempary use only. What recommendation can be made to change this? I still need to terminate the 4 #10 wires some how/where.

I put lugs on the wires/cables then either use a marine terminal or your existing terminals (Attach the lugs to the 2 bolts that hold the clamp)

Plus you can use some stainless bolts, and use the side terminals

Emsvitil's option of putting a big ring lug on the end of the cables is a good one, particularly in conjunction with sturdy, military-type battery terminal clamps (see this thread ).

Another good "no special tools required" option is cast-brass terminals with compression-fitting cable attachments (also available from Belden. Part numbers at my office, and I'm not going back there right now, given the "good old Ontario sunshine" that's still falling out of the sky and making the roads greasy (and getting me stuck in my truck thrice today alone; I smell of burnt tire rubber).

hey guys:
i just got rid of these connections on my battery. i went to my local napa dealer and got the soidier inside the battery clamps. when you get these you sould also make sure you get the pos. / neg. terminals
(they are different sizes) . i changed mine over to 2 gauge wire and pinched the wire inside after installing it. then shrink wrap the thing for sealing purposes. they now look as if you went and bought premade cables but you'll also have to make a new starter relay wire, but thats only 10 gauge with new terminal end.

thanks dale (spikeoehme) 65 valiant 8)

hey it's me again!
as for the four wires what i would do is use your side post terminal
make a small #4 / #6 gauge wire to a terminal block on the fender or fire wall, then connect the wires to the block or even a fuse panel assembly, or you could use the ring terminals and connect with stainless steel bolts to the side terminal. with the tight conditions i see i'd do the small wire to a fender, firewall.

thank again dale 8)
