HI Dennis: Got a call from Andrew and team on their way back from Vegas. There were 10 cars entered in the slant6 race. 9 ran in the finals on Sunday. Doug had the fastest slant6 car and in the finals, CJ ran against Richard "The Sandbagger" ....CJ thought he would get a early start on the lights and finish off Richard....the dreaded Red showed its ugly head. Great to see so many new racers at Vegas. Tristan and Allen were semi final winners. Now the Killer Bee team needs to gear up for the upcoming two races which are back to back weekends.....Medford on May 31-June 1 and then at Redding on June 7-8. Heard you are no longer a Killer Bee??? Those Eastern/Southern boys need some help so get them going again...Later from the Killer Bee Hive...Wayne

You didn't go Wayne?

I saw on Moparts that race and show car counts were both down 50% from last year.

I really wanted to go, but I had no vacation time yet. You'd best believe that I was jonesing this weekend.

I did work on my junk though. I have about 3 days work to get it ready to go, and 24 hours to do it in. :?

Boy, that sounds like me!

Yes, we had a fun time at MATS but the car count was down this year.
We did have a different group and a whole lot of after hours fun so it was worth the trip.... not as much for the racing but more for the "social". :P

I started a "Las Vegas Race Results" thread over in the Events forum so hopefully people will post some photos and their stories... I have a few but you know what they say... "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas..."

Did anyone of Doug's new engine's race at MATS? I say doug run in the 13's, looked like he was having problems with one run. I thought the Valiant with the aluminum block might be a Dutra special, but it ran a 20sec so I though it might be pretty stocky.

I have Twin #2 (Raquel) in my 62 Lancer and ran it @ MATS.
Yes, I had to deal with fuel system problems all weekend but finally got some clean passes out of the car on Sunday during eliminations.
Looks like this engine will run solid low 14's on the engine and mid 12's with a 100 HP shot of N2O

I will be "re-doing" the fuel system on that car before the Medford / Redding races, the stock fuel tank has to be replaces with something that will not constantly send crap through the fuel system.

Doug,

How about an 8 gallon Harwood drag cell? It's got two AN-10 outlets at the bottom of the mini-sump if memory serves. I was going to use it in the 440 powered Packard project, but I came up with a 22 gal RCI.

Hi Dennis: We had some farming "problems" back in Jan...Just in our county of Butte, there were over 400,000 almond trees uprooted due to the high winds and water conditions. Now the replants are in...still working on the 170 project and will be at all the 5 remaining races at Redding, Medford and Samoa (Eureka). We are hoping Mike will come out before the first Redding race and help "fine tune" the 170 motor which is going into the 62'...Glad we had so many "newbies" at Vegas..it looks like the start of a great year for slant6 racing...Later from the Killer Bee Hive....Wayne

Sorry to hear about the tree troubles Wayne. Hope it doesn't set you back too far.

I have seen the insides of your motor. Looks like a fun project. :D

All in all, very cool motor Doc. Can't wait to give you a run for the money in a year or so. Looked like everyone had a good time, and defintley some good motors there.
