Remember this car was dead stock, four years old with 49,000 mi. on it. After market stereos were not common, FM was all but unheard of outside of large metropolitan areas, and 8 tracks were just coming on strong. There was no hacking of the electrical system.

I may have remembered wrongly, and the parking lights also had to be on. Hell it was in the early seventies when I discovered this back-feed thing, and a lot of brain cells have gone down stream since than.

Worked on a '66 Mustang too. The radio didn't go on & off, but stayed on as long as you kept your foot on the brake.

My dad had a '71 Bronco when I was just a lad.
He left me in the vehicle while he went into the store.
I discovered that yes, if you turn on enough accessories, including the flashers, you can make the radio play (without the key).

It also makes smoke start to billow out from underneath the dashboard.

I do NOT recommend trying this on our old cars!

OK all you factory manualaphobs, and nattering neybobs, on page 8-76 of the '1967 Charger Coronet Dart Factory Manual', under the heading of 'Emergency Flasher" the following paragraph can be found printed in bold type:

"Before the switch is activated, the turn signal switch should be in the neutral position to prevent a characteristic feed back through the accessory circuit causing intermittent operation of the accessories"

I suspect the same warning can be found for other years of manufacture as well.
