That's ok. I just wanted to try it the easy way. I have another "A" body 8 3/4, with both LBP and SBP axels, with a 3.91 SG, or 5.38 SG. Also a 8 inch Ford 4.10 mini spool. Just didn't feel like changing the rear, yet. Still trying to keep this a low buck project.

Tried to go with a taller tire, but didn't have any that would fit. Still got the car back to the track, just to play. Got it down to a 13.64 at 92.05 with a 1.797 60 ft. On the way home stoped at a truck stop to get her weighed. Exactly 2500lbs with about 5 cal gas. That puts me "race ready" at 2670 lbs, with me in the car.

No, nothing new. It was just such a nice day, I just took off and went to the track. The car still looks like it came right from the junk yard. What I need to do, when I get the time is upload some pictures to a host site. Right now all my pics are hosted by other members. The next plans for the car, are a carb mounted micro switch for the nitrous, instead of a "linelock" sw on the shifter. A bottle heater and nitrous pressure gauge. These items will make the car more consistant. Looking for some 6 or 7 inch wide 26-27 inch tall slicks, 14 or 15 inch rim size, new or used.

A few more upgrades: Installed long wheel studes in the 7 1/4 axles, (found a marginal axle bearing, and replaced it) and mounted 6x26x15 slicks on aluminum sloted mags, small bolt pattern. Bought the wheels and new 8x28 slicks from Seymour a couple of years ago, for $50 each, along with the aluminum front wheels and tires. The 8 inch slicks would not clear the fenders, so mounted up the 6 inchers, from my Cuda. I will try the 8 inch slicks on "cop car" wheels and see if they will fit my Cuda.
I Just did a refi, on my house, and wound up not have to make a April house payment, so made a deal with the wife. She gets half a payment, and I get the other half, to spend as we like. Just spent 2 days sanding on the car, and in about an hour, it goes to the paint shop.

Sounds great Charrlie!

I was lamenting to Seymour just the other day how you had scooped up those wheels before I could. I'm glad you're finally using them.

I finally completed the long and difficult process of re-financing our house there in Stockbridge... What a stressful pain in the you-know-what! After I get over the frustration of the ordeal I will be glad I did it (I hope)

Is your spare bedroom still available if I ever make it to another Big Daddy show?

So, this car is going to Valdosta, right? Or is the Angel still the primary?

I emailed Elaine the other day and she said that she and Norm are planning on being there and they will take pictures.

I have had the fronts on, since "day one".

Sure is.

I am trying to see if I can get the Valiant quick enough for a shot at an 1/8 mile record, in either "B" or "C" nitrous. It is 500 lbs lighter then the Cuda. Then see if I can afford to go to Farmington. I would like to have both cars at Valdosta, but need a driver to tow one, and race. If I just bring one, I will decide just prior to the race, which one.

I sure hope we get a decent turnout. The purse is now up to $1,100

500 pounds lighter! I know the Valiant is lighter than the Barracuda, but this is the car you bought from Will with all the fiberglass parts, right?

I'll see what I can do to drum up some folks for the race and maybe even someone to drive one for you. The internet is a wonderful thing...

Did you get my email?

No, this is the car I got from the salvage yard for $100. But it is totally gutted, no bumper, grill, or hood (will get a fiberglass hood, when I get a scoop and make mounting brackets). Hood was "donated " by Barry Harrison. Weight of the 66 Valiant is 2500 lbs. The Cuda is fully street legal, with absoultly no weight reduction, about 3075 lbs. The 64 Valiant, I got from Will, should be about the same weight (when done) due to roll cage, subframe connectors, and a heavier rear (either 8 inch Ford or 8 3/4, instead of the 7 1/4). Hope to start on that car winter of 08-09.

OK, thanks. Yes I got the e-mail, but I'm having trouble opening the attachment. I just get a blank "wordpad" screen.

Got the Valiant back from the paint shop. Boy, did they do a suck ass job. I didn't do a very good jod of sanding, and that all shows, but they didn't even get any paint on the lower rocker panels. There is a large area, by the driver door, where it looks like someone leaned against it, while the paint was wet. It was only a $180 paint job, and I only wanted a "50 foot" car, but this is total BS. They told me, I would have a $25 discount on my next paint job. Told them I wouldn't except it this way. So finally, they agreed to a complete repaint, no charge, after 30 days time for the existing paint to cure.
PS: I did get that in writing.

It was a local place called Econo auto painting & body works. I thought I would try them, since a used car dealer, I do work for, uses them.
Actually, I was completely satisified with the job Maaco did on my 66 Cuda, like 5 years ago. It still looks pretty good. You must remember, with these "cheap" paint jobs, all they do is paint. Any flaws on the body will show up. They don't do any sanding, unless you pay extra.

Planning on trying the larger tires, Wednessday night. After I see what effect that has, going to try some more compression. The engine has a pretty much stock head, with just a little over 8:1 compression. I have my old "stock elimininator" head on the shelf, and I think the valves and seats are OK. Called the machine shop, to get a price on cutting the head .100. Was told $60, not too bad a deal. Asked, if I brought it in today, when could I get it back. "Get it here, by 2;00 pm and pick it up about 4:00 pm". Done deal, did it, got it. Checked a couple of chambers, and got 39 cc's. This head will give me about 10.04:1 compression. Now I have to take it apart, check the valve job. I think the guides are cut shorter for retainer clearence, and it does have positive valve seals, and bronze guides. Need to install better springs, for the cam I am running. Not going to do any port work or oversize valve, at this time. Want to see how much difference the compression alone makes. Only concern at this time is if the pushrods will be too long. I do have a MP custom pushrod kit, but would prefer not to use it on a "mule" motor.

Went to Gainesville Raceway, test and tune, last night. What a disaster. They are haveing "Pinks All Out", this weekend, and the place was packed, with cars, for that deal. One engine oildown, one trans, one rear, and a guardrail incident. So much down time, I only got one run, from 7:00 pm to 11;30 pm. The weather forcast was for cool/cold, so I borrowed the nitrous bottle heater from my Cuda. Had the bottle temp at 90 degrees. The only pass I made was:
60 ft: 1.769
1/8: 8.413 at 78.34 mph
1/4 13.540 at 93.99 mph

The tire size test was inconclusive (only 1 pass), and cool dry air ( last time out was hot and humid), but it was a best for the car, so far.
