Well I was able to get the busted off stud out of the head with little drama.
I drilled through the stud with a bit that was almost as big as the stud then used a tap to push the drilled out part the rest of the way through. I got lucky there. I'm not going to trust the heli-coil to lift the motor. Too much time and energy into the motor to drop it. I'm going to use the good hole, fortunately it's the back one that's still good, for one end of the chain, and the water pump bolt hole that goes into the meaty part of the block. It looks like it should hold good. Using grade 8 bolts for a little insurance. If I can get a buddy to help, I'll drop her in next weekend. I have a little more cleaning up under the hood before I drop it back in anyways. So close I can taste it. I can't wait.

Use the 3/8-16 unc tapped holes on the top of the cylinder head to lift and install the engine, that is what these holes are for.
For engine only installation, just use the front hole with a loop of chain or a strap, that will get the front to back and side to side angles correct so all the mounting holes line right-up to the transmission and K-frame.

Hey Doc. You didn't see my other post about the heli-coiled hole in my cylinder head. And of course it is the front one and I don't trust it to hold when I lift the motor. Some say it will hold, some not, and I don't want to risk it.

Hey Doc, or anyone,

Would you tell me how to make an engine lifting sling or bracket. Or is there a place that one can be purchased. I used a chain with both ends under the front ward bolt. It was much better than the old methods, but could still use some improvement. thank you.

use a piece of angle iron and drill it to bolt to the two 3/8 boss on top of the head, then drill holes along the other edge of the angle iron so a eyelet or a hook can be attached at different point so the engine can be angle forward or back
