I know this does not relate to the drive train of my car but it does relate to my car with a /. I have a 67 dart gt with a 225 /6. For my birthday my fiancée and family have offered to get me a new carpet. I have been looking around on eBay and I see a few different ones in the $120 range, do any of you have any experience with any of the carpet manufactures? Can you give me any ideas on what is the best one and also tips for instillation?

If you find a good one they are 'molded' and literally all you have to do is pull your seats, and the door sills and you can lay it in without any major hitches... if it comes folded up, on a sunny day unfold it and lay it in the sun for an hour and it will 'relax'....

Some companies have offered kits and they are just carpet that you roll out and trim as needed....

Lastly, if you're really 'cheap' you can go to a carpet store (or in my town a fabric store carries the 80/20 loop for the later cars), and just get the size you need and trim like the above kit (it doesn't look or fit as well), but is less expensive than buying the 'cheap' carpet kit and paying the middle man...

I agree with Dusteridiot from experience, some places sell a stiched verison that looks terrible in the car. The curves and dips want to bag and bunch up. I regreted even putting it in the car. Go with the molded if you budget allows you to do so, It's money well spent.

Molded carpets may not have the color you want.

and you can get a unmolded carpet to fit well if you take your time.....

Yes, nice job Ed. Seeing those pics had made think about (again), just those rubber floor mats instead of carpet. Any idea if anyone sells them?

I found a few carpet vendors selling plastice molded floor pans but odd colors andCamo.

Thanks for the replies. I know I would not get the same results as Ed if I tried to cut my own carpet. That is a beautiful job but I think I am going to have to go with a moulded carpet if I am to make it look nice.

Cheaper carpet can be had and there may be somewhere with the same quality for less but I doubt it. You have a choice of materials, cut pile, loop pile... more, and a huge selection of colors. I’ve never gotten one that didn’t fit like a glove. You don’t have to trim anything. Remove the seats and seat belt mounts, etc. and throw it through the door hole. Comes with the original style padding glued on the back.

You can also get floor mats and trunk mats.

OK so I have the floor hump from my 77 Aspen going into the 66 Dart SW. Will molded 66 Dart 4 speed carpet work?

I read somewhere the humps are in fact different enough that it might not fit right

You will have problems but they may bother you or not. If the hump is too much larger it could pull the carpet to short at the edge by the doors. If the hump is smaller the carpet will stand up above the hump until it develops wrinkles when it collapses or if anything pushes against it much.

Maybe you could try the Aspen carpet in the Dart first. If the rest of the floor is close enough it may be best to buy carpet molded for the Aspen.
