I was considering doing something similar. Most European and Japanese I6s have dual outlet manifolds (or dual manifolds) and dual downpipes. A pair of 1 3/4" tubes joined together into a 2 1/4" pipe should do very well for a stock to mild build. Throw in a 2bbl, a little more cam and compression and you'd have a good street engine.

I started the Dutra Duals concept with welded manifolds.
We still do some special welded rear sections for different applications.

The reality, these fabricated manifolds take a lot of labor time to cut, fit and weld, but it works.
The problem is the welding on cast iron, if the welds are not done correctly, cracks form along the weld joints and the "transplanted" flanges break-off. This is especially true when there is weight / load on the welded joint.

That intake mounts a single DCOE type. I would imagine that setup would be tough to tune as DCOEs are really meant to be used as one venturi per cylinder on individual runner manifolds.

That is a LYNX intake for a single weber side draft. I actually saw one of these on a slant that a lady had bought. I suggested she ditch that in my direction for a perfectly good 2bbl that I had but she wanted to sell it as part of the POS car she had it in. Oh well. I cant see that running that well with that runner configuration and the single weber, and I even told her that. Its fate is unknown now.

I have one of those manifolds, but have not run it. I don't think it's as bad as yo might think. I need a smaller DCOE than I have for it to have a chance of functioning well. Or a DCOE-style throttle body and an engine management system.
