Would one be able to press out the bushings of the front end suspension parts with a good vice, or is it off to a machine shop that has a press?

I have gottn them out with a vise, c clamps, and the right sized sicket wrenches. But it is not easy. I would take it to the machine shop. I eventually bought a press from Harbor Freight for about $140. It has paid for itself many times over.

Ive always done them, by "walking" around the bushing shell on the "inside" of the control arm with an air chisel, then doing the same around the bushing flange and they usually come right out.

Volaredon makes a good point. You don;t have to worry about destroying the old bushing shells. If you don;t hae an air chisel, you can get there with a hammer and a cold chisel as well. I good vise makes any job like this easier.
