I need a radiator for my 1964 dodge dart and I can't find one anywhere this is the one I think will work http://tinyurl.com/554br4
Can anyone tell me if the tanks count on the height measurement or just the core part of the radiator. If the tanks dont count mine is 18 7/8" wide by 16" Tall by 1 1/2" deep. If they do count its 21 1/8 tall or somewhere abouts that. If anyone knows anything of where I can find one that they know will fit or know this one will fit please help me out.

A radiator is all I need to make the car almost drive able.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge in this department.

I'm not sure about that one, but HERE'S the approach I took on my '64 Valiant. The only problem was that I had to use a non-lever cap to clear the hood brace.

Damn why can't a 86 fith avenue work lol I have a radiator off one just laying around to be used lol. Thats somthing I may try if i cant find one im bookmarking the page. I have no problem doing that but my stepdad probably would may not I do not know untill I ask him but that may be what we do.

Thanks for the reply if anyone else has anything diffrent please let me know.

That '68 Dart rad can be made to work, but it'll take some sheetmetal cutting; you'll need to saw about 4 inches off the left radiator bracket and cut/drill new holes & slots. 1965 was the first year the A-body was available with wider than a 19" radiator; '65-up cars all had a wide (~22") rad core hole in the rad support, and the '65+ 19" radiator had an extra-wide left bracket to fill the hole and reach the bolts. Your '64 has a narrow core hole.

Don't know what kind of heat you have to cool the car in, what your budget looks like, etc., but I had a radiator made for my '62 Lancer by the guy described and linked in this post and it is absolutely beautiful work. I sent him my '62 rad and he matched the brackets' hole placement, depth, etc. The new rad is so light in weight that it can easily be lifted in the air with two fingers, and the craftsmanship is just A-number-1. I'll post photos when I'm back on a fast connection.

Budget is kind of tight the highest temp we normaly see is around 100 degrees and somtimes stop and go traffic. coldest is around 0 if that matters.

Damn 64drtGt, we seem to be in the same boat, I need a rad for my 63 Dart daily driver, and I have an 85 5th ave, whole car for parts.

How did you make it fit? Did you cut out the opening in the Dart? Got some pics? I just pulled the rad from a 77 Volare, it looks like I'm going to have to cut the hole bigger. Or do you just center the core over the hole, and drill new holes?

To put in a "new" rad when money allows, this here is what I am looking atThis and modifying it like Dan suggests. To get me by for a while, I am looking at making the Volare rad fit.

It is sad that radiators, like much of the auto industry had to turn to plastic. It seems as if getting a radiator "recored" is a thing of the past. I guess I got spoiled about 16 years ago when the rad shop was 2 doors down from the shop I worked at.

Don't give up on those "5thAvenue" radiators so fast; While I am not looking at one as we speak, as to hose outlet positions, etc, but chassis wise the 5th Avenue is the same as my Volare (different sheetmetal "wrapping" so to speak) Im sure that your 5th Ave would have been a V8 but if 100% chalk mark originality is not your goal, I do believe that 5th av radiator can work in your older cars w/o much problem/adaptaton; I sold a couple of /6 Aspen/Volare radiators to people with '64-'65ish A bodies and from the feedback I got they fit fine. Your main concern, like mentioned above, is hose nipple position on the SB radiator as compared to where they'd need to be on your car; this may be as simple as trying a few different hoses to find one that fits; if the hose nipple is on the wrong sides, I have had radiator shops cut/move them as needed, for not a lotta money, though its been a few years; like everything else I'm sure the going rate has gone up. But if you have the 5th Ave sitting there, and basically a "free" radiator it might be worth a shot to pull it and run it by the local radiator guy; the honest ones aren't gonna charge you to simply look at it and tell you whether thay would be able to do you any good!
