Does anyone currently offer hypereutectic or any other than stock pistons for the 225 slant, and if so, where to get them and how much?

Most any piston manufacturer will make a piston for the Slant. I just got a set of forged Ross nitrous pistons.

All I will tell you is to make sure to get a price quote if you are having anything custom done to them.

Hypereutectic cast pistons shatter like glass if there is lean-out.

I feel that the hyper pistions need a bunch of top ring gap to servive in a performance engine.
This material seems to put more heat on the rings, which will butt if there is not enought ring gap.
Once that happens, you get damage, usually broken piston ring lands and scraped-up cylinders.

Bullshit. I have wiped a couple out with nitrous and neither "shattered". I did split one in half though.

What's a rough cost estimate for a set of decent custom pistons (I know there are lots of different variables, just looking for a semi close number-$150, $200, $250, $300, etc. per set)

the number that keeps floating around for a set of forged is around $600.00. I would imagine that if you did a search for forged pistons you would come up with hundreds of threads to sift through.

$500 to $600.00 seems to be the going rate for a set of 6 custom forged pistons. The smart (racer) man always buys an extra one.
The good news, you can get any pin size, ring thickness and compression height you want.
The bad news, add floating pin grooves, valve reliefs, etc. and the cost goes up.

Now you see why Slant Six engine builders / Racers keep their eye out for the 198 con rods. A set of 7 inch 198 con rods really opens-up your options for getting higher compression when using "budget" off the shelf pistons.

Ross will do a forged for around $65 per IF you don't move the pin hole. Wrist pin and ring set is extra.
