Just thinking mpg here. I was thinking of running a straight pipe on my 74 Dart 4 door.

Anyone done this? I was wondering how it sounded.

Rough
I did once race a 74 Dart Sport stock slant street car and it performed best with a costom built stanless hollow muffler with it in the stock location and stock tailpipe. My first race car. I still have all the notes about mods on the engine to make it go faster. Thanks Ron Parker :D

Fast Is Just A Verb Compared To What

If you value your hearing and wallet, you will abandon the idea. Even if the cops don't stop ya, you'll go either mad or deaf. Possibly both. I ran open headers once on my LTD and it rattled my ear drums. I imagine the drone of a six would drive you crazy after a mile or two.

If it was bad I might do a resinator. I almost bought an 84 pickup that had no cats and duals and bo muffler. Guy said it was fairly quiet.

It will be a commuter car32 miles one way. And 28 is interstate.

My bet is that it will sound cool for the first week... maybe a week and a half.

Then you'll Midacize it.

A straight pipe will not improve your mileage or performance relative to a well-thought-out quiet exhaust system (there is no call to buy a "performance" muffler) , and as others have said the noise will drive you crazy within days.

I just did my 78 aspen Super6 . A new 2 1/4 converter (weld broke on old one) .a stock muffler , and a resonator setup for a 79 . You cant even hear it run , way more impressive than an under built motor rumbling .
