I have an Edelbrock 500 manual choke to go on my Offenhauser 4bbl intake. I got a rebuild kit for the carb and it came with a gasket that matches the bottom surface of the carb, but is only regular gasket thickness, not 1/4" or 1/2" thick like I have seen on most carb spacers. Is a spacer needed, and if so, where do I get one that will fit.

Thanks,
Stephan

As an auto parts store for a carb base gasket for a '75 Ford F250 with a 390 4bbl. You should get a nice thick gasket that matches the Holley and AFB bolt pattern.

Does Edelbrock have the same pattern as Holley and AFB?

Yes.....

Summit Racing sells them too made from different materials to minimize heat soak.

Yes, the Edelbrock is an AFB clone.

I've heard that Edelbrock is a copy of Carter. Is this right? Are Carter and AFB the same?

AFB is a Carter model. The Edelbrocks are updated a little (cheaper to produce) than the Carter AFBs of twenty years ago. Things like stamped steel throttle plates instead of machined brass, etc.
