I have an old tach from the '80s. Its a generick one from K-Mart. It has a switch for 4, 6 or 8 cylinders. The problem is I am missing the instructions. Is there a way I can use this as a test tach and dose anyone know were to hook up the wires? It has 4 wires, red, green, white and black.
thanks

with the white headlamp wire, which wire would you connect this to via the headlamp switch?
There are a bunch of little wires at the back of the headlight switch
thanks!

chase the wires to see which one goes to the instrument lamps. That should be the one

Yeah, it's the one from the instrument lamp fuse. You should be able to tap in at the fuse block. I believe here was an unused terminal on the back of mine.

on my sunpro super tach i just hooked the white to the red so the lamp is always on and full bright. been working for 4 months that way. infact all my aftermarket gauges are wired up to light on ingition, next is wring my headlights to the ingtion switch so they are on when the key turns.
