Did a quick search, the only thing I found was to put a tee in the idiot light sender, and take the reading there. Is that the best place, or is there a plug somewhere else to remove, and use that hole?
I've been driving the truck nearly everyday, and really enjoying it.

You can check to see if the boss on the rear of the main oil gallery has been drilled and tapped, if so, use that location foe the additional sending unit.
(I always drill and tap that location when rebuilding SL6 engines)

Where would that be? Give me an area to look for it, please.
The block is pretty greasy. I thought it was a leaky valve cover gasket, so I got a new one, pulled the cover, and WTF??? No gasket!!! Someone had siliconed the cover! No wonder it leaked.
I got the choke adjusted pretty good, so it starts right up.
I had a lifter clacking, even after an oil change, so I tried some GUNK valve medic. Seems to have quited down, I'll know for sure in a day or two.

Lower, passenger side, rearward of the oil filter, where the trans meets the block.

Some of the later cast crank and aluminum engines do not have the boss but a drill and add a fitting anyway.

The hole is drilled and then tapped 1/8 NPT... then I use epoxy when I thread-in the fitting. (I use Devcon brand)
The epoxy is "insurance" to be sure there are no leaks and to add some additional support to the fitting.
