Hi

New to forum, everyone seems really helpful which is great.

Tomorrow we're gonna try and change an old broken water pump with a new one. Have little to no experience with a slant six 225 petrol engine (in a UK Dodge 50 vehicle http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodge_50

So any advice/tips/expertise on this procedure would be much appreciated

Cheers

Vornie

Drain cooling system.
Remove the radiator, fan and pulley.
Remove waterpump. Some of the bolts go into the water jacket so carefully work tight ones back and forth to remove with out breaking.

It is a nice to flush-out the engine block while the waterpump is off.
Clean the gasket surface and replace the short by-pass hose leading to the head, during re-installation

just to let you know we've done it and its working ok, thanks Doc and SSDan for your invaluable advice :-)

It s been about five months since we ran the engine - and now there is a tapping noise coming from it - I can t remember if it has always made this noise or it is a new bad noise - any one else ever experience this?

Thanks again guys :o) Vornie
