If you are installing one of the MP electronic ignition conversion kits that comes with a new distributor, be advised that "performance" distributor has an advance curve built in that's very unsuitable for use on the street...

The initial timing is set with a timing light. Do you have one?

I can get one from our neighbor but my problem is I havent been able to start the car yet. I changed the timing chain on the car and someone on here said I may have moved the distributor off one tooth and to find True TDC, and reset the distributor to fire about 10 degrees before TDC. My car has a points distributor so I bought the MP electronic ignition to convert it over. And I believe the distributor is off now and I need to see if someone can tell me step by step of what I need to do to get it back to TDC and then install the new distributor 10 degree before TDC. (if that is what I need to do) I went back and set the Valves this weekend by manually turning over the motor and setting them just alittle looser than factory specs just to get it fired up. Then Ill go back when its running and fine tune. As for the MP electronic ignition.. I do plan on using it still, Ill just have to find that post that someone posted on how to recurve the MP distributor.
