But what does it mount to then? like is there another mounting tab? I'm just trying to make sure I have all the ducks in a row before I go fitting my floor to something I'm not 100% sure will work out for me.

I know it's not rocket science but I'm not exactly rich I don't have the money to go blow on an SFI approved bellhousing only to find out it won't work. Sorry but most starters I've seen bolt to the block and the mounting tabs are pretty beefy on a motor. I don't have any idea how thick the engine saver plate is.

In old mopars the starter always mounts to the belhousing...

Which 'other' manufacturer were you talking about on 'most motors'?

Even 2.2/2.5, 2.4, 2.0, 4 cyls and lot of other newer vehicles still mount starters to the transmission. Very few had the starter thru a engine block material. One or two I think GM used that for starter BETWEEN valley of V6 or V8. UGH

Cheers, Wizard

would i mess up the sfi rating on the bellhousing if I was to cut a hole for the stock slant starter location. I'm looking at buying a small block 130 tooth flywheel that has been cut down for a slant starter gear(122) and uses a 10.5" clutch dia.
