Thanks to all of you for your help.

Loosened the grease boot on the end of the steering column (engine side) and the screw was inside. Hallelujah! No fishing necessary. Bought new 6x32 self-tapping screws to replace the old ones which were slightly worn and they worked like a charm. Re-installed the switch, and steering wheel. Now the signals work perfectly. Of course, the old style spring clip that retains the grease boot isn't back in place, holding it on as it should. These seem very difficult to position correctly and re-install with wires and lines in the way and without four hands, but I'm leaving it lay for now.

Hoorah for relatively easy fixes! :lol:

Can't quite picture the grease boot and retainer. Would a zip-tie take the place of the clip?

A zip-tie could work. Usually, those spring clips are replaced these days by those metal bands with an adjustable screw-clamp, like what usually holds your radiator hoses in place. I may use that for this and just leave the spring clip lodged where it is. Too bad - from an aesthetic point of view, the spring clip definitely looks better, just a pain to put on in tight quarters.

Looks like a short Radio Antenna with a magnet on the end. Yah they are VERY Real. :D
I am wondering if any input from us Dodge A-100 guys may help.
Our trucks 1964 to 1970 have a turnsignal switch that attaches with (held in place by) a singla screw and a wedge shaped finger. Indexes into a square hole in the top of the steering column tube in that big cup it all sits in.????
In actuallity our A-100 Turnsignal Switches are (or were up to last fall) still available NEW from the dealer since many Dodge Motorhomes (in particular the Motorhomes with the WHITE "Commander" Steering Wheel and dash shifter) used the same 60's Dodge truck steering column (and ergo the same switch) right on into the late 70's.
This replacement switch, that mounts with the single screw and wedge, is Chrysler PN#2510945.
I also have a listing with pics of the No-2 Wire/Older replacement Cancel Cams from various vendors.
I can forward to ??? for posting.

The repair cams are indeed available from many sources, but if you want to do the replacement job once (and not over and over and over), you get the one made by David Koldos (115 Hill Ave, Elgin, IL 60120-4412, (847) 888-2652 ) instead of one of the parts store items. Last e-mail I have for him is dkoldos "at" ameritech "dot" net , which may or may not be current. He got fed up with the cruddy quality and short life of all the repair cams on the market, and, being a master moldmaker by trade, crafted his own really nice ones.

or a nice set of "magic fingers" it's about 1 1/2" feet long with 3 or 4 fingers that come out the end and will grab anything. great tool to have [/imImageg]
