If you missed this first time race...you really missed out. Friday, Andrew/Jessica reserved our own separte dinning room at the 112 year old Samoa cookhouse. We had over 25 people from the Killer Bee racing team in attendance.

On Saturday, we all were set up at Samoa raceway where we had our own section for parking. Samoa is right on the ocean..which was about 1000 yds away from the track. We left Chico where it was smokey, and over 100 degrees...Samoa was 65 degrees with that cool ocean breeze.
Saturday we broke into two groups ..one the slower cars and the other that faster. Had a $$ payout for each group and then ran the winners for each group against each other for more $$$.

Saturday night, we all headed to the Howards' big Victorian home for one of the best BBQ ever...I thought the Samoa cookhouse was great, but it couldn't light a candle to what Jessica/Andrew had for all the racers. Had a continus running DVD of the races at Redding, with tubs of Beer/Colas to go along with the burgers, brotes, dogs, chicken,,salads, deviled eggs..I could go on and on..Thanks to the Howards for one great BBQ.

Sunday we all ran as a team and had 16 cars which was a fantastic turnout for a first time event...this along with the fires, economy shows that the Killer Bees are the team to beat.
We had several "gals" runing cars...PJ had her new Demon running faster and faster...Sergios' wife Lana took a turn at the wheel...Dougs daughter Kristi almost put eventual winner, Glen Terry on the trailer early and only lost by .001. Mike's girlfriend was driving his Dart and she made it all the way to the semi-finals.

The long distance winner was Rick Valent who drove all the way to join us from Tuscon, Ariz...Seymour was there to support this first time race.
Dave Mueller came from Kelso, Wash and ran a 11:99 the first pass. Then it only got better..He keep going faster and faster and then ran a 11:53 which was the alcohol record.. Then he had to back it up and then ran a 11:60. Then on Sunday, ran another 11:55 to show it was no mistake..Dave now has the alcohol record for this weight class and now is the first Killer Bee to hold a record...
There is so much more that went on but you had to be there to enjoy all the racing..hospitality.
If you missed Samoa..you missed out...
We are already planning on next years racing at Samoa

Yes, fun times at Samoa. :D
The locals really enjoyed the Killer Bee show... we had a lot of people walk thru our pit area, looking at the cars and asking questions.

I had my hands full with 3 car and 2 teenaged drivers but everything worked-out. I am mad at myself for "lifting" at the finish line in my second round race, lost that one by .001 so both Kristi and I were .oo1 loosers.

Wayne, You have another Killer Bee record holder... I have held "Bee" Nitrous for a few years, Zilla and Charrlie S. keep telling me they are going to take that one but...
I bumped that record down a bit at Samoa, I wonder if I should send in the revised time or just wait until I have to take the record back.

I have to post my pictures tonight, talk about an interesting drive... 3 cool A-body cars driving the redwood highway, what a parade... lots of honks and thumbs-up. The coolest one was from 3 truckloads of CDF fire fighters... the waves and thumbs-up went both ways during that "high-5" session, those guys are doing a great job getting all the CA fires under control.

On last story... with the entire Dutra family "in tow"... we have to take a few more stops then Allen I usually do.
On a stop in Legget, CA... at an old fashion, 2 pump gas station / store, we meet a guy with a red 70 Challenger. Next thing you know, Mark D. from the old SSCA drives-up in his 66 Valiant... he lives in Legget and spotted the cars. We are all talking and and the car hoods go up, next thing we know, other travelers are stopping at the gas station and looking at the cars... we have ourselves our own mini Mopar car show! 8)
I have to blow the "breaks-over" whistle and get the "parade" moving again... we got home at 10:00.

Hi Doug: Congrats...sorry for my "omission" ..without the three Dutra Famjly racers, we wouldn't have had such a good showing. At the drivers meeting, they made a special announcement by the track president, who acknowledged all the slant6 team and their response from the public attention that was given to our group. Lots of interest from public who came into the pit area.
I also forgot to mention that you took the time to write a article and send it to the local newspaper. We had our own "feature story" with color photo of several slant6 cars. There were many that read the article and came to see what it was all about. This again shows what our Killer Racing Team does to promote itself...and at no cost other than taking the time to do it. Thanks Doug for your efforts and Thanks for being the first record holder from the Killer Bee Racing Team...

NOW WE HAVE TWO.....CONGRATS DOUG AND DAVE...

I didn't think anyone could see the peripheral port wankels under each wheel well of your car in that shot.

You want me to photoshop it some more?

Well I turned my 360 some odd mile one way trip into a 1500 mile fiasco!

I pulled into Redding and tryed to run over highway 299, no go there, fire over the road! One fire fighter said to try the 36 but the other one said not to even try, it's shut down too!

So i drove up to Grants Pass which is 200 miles out of my way then 200 miles back. About 110 miles from Samoa, on the 199 some jackoff had to throw his cig out the window and light the forest on fire! Needless to say it shut down the road. I rolled up around 8:00 pm, at which point they said it would be around 10 am when it was open...OK.... I slept in the car till 6 am at which point the road block was gone and people were driving around the corner.
I fired up the car and tore off down the road but to my suprise they had just moved the road block a few miles back, And they said the road would not be open till 6 pm... Weeeelllll F####@@@@@(()))_%$$%

Turns out the water from the helicopters caused a land slide that took out the road... just my luck!

I then drove all the way back to redding and made it over the 299, which turns out was not open for long and for good reason, i could only see mabe 80 feet in front of the car in the twistys not good.

So in hind sight when northern cali is on fire i should drive to the bay too get up the coast and not drive around three states trying to find a way past the flames.

I am just glad i made the points race too bad i pulled fopar on the first run!! It does not matter how you get to the races just get there!!!
