Hello, Autozone sold me a set of "Valucraft" wires, i measured the resistance with my multimeter and most of them are at 8000 ohms, a couple at 10000. my '83 truck service manual says the acceptable range of resistance is 3000-7200 ohms per foot, in a thread on the same subject someone said 2000 ohms or less is what you need for the best spark. where are you guys getting the Magnecor wires, i emailed them about a source to buy them a couple times but they didn't respond. also a couple people on here suggested Borg-Warner wires, i will look into that also. i'm trying to troubleshoot a low speed miss.

I have a set of Borg Warner spark plug wires on my slant, they seem to be working okay. I'm not sure where to get the Magnacore wires, but I've thought about getting a set of Accel wires (8 mm) which I would have to cut to fit.
Anybody else?

The 3000-7200 per foot is for carbon core wires.

Sounds like the Valuecraft wires are carbon core.

The resistance of carbon core wires isn't the real problem, it's that they breakdown the fastest and eventually the resistances goes way up...........

The 2000 or less is for spiral core wires. Spiral core wires also don't tend to breakdown either, although the wire may eventually break (good or bad with nothing inbetween usually)

The plugs are at least 4-5k ohms resistance.

I think you're fine for now.

I am running Summit's 8mm spiral core wire, $29.00 for a set. You make up one end, very nice quality blue wire and long boots.

Don't buy parts at Autozone; virtually everything they will sell you is trash. IINM, you can get Magnecor wires directly from Magnecor.
