Another of "Old Red" Have to track down a decent tailgate--the new replacement lacks the Dodge Ram" and is pretty worthless (it closes in a lop sided fashion). Guess where it is made? Apparently the Number One Golden Dragon metal works had a quality control problem...

I need to breath some more life into this engine--in its stock form it is still a bit anemic. Luckily all the info seems to be on this web site...

That's a nice shot with Mt. Hood in the background. Good looking truck.

The mountain is actually the south side of Rainer--looks a bit like Hood come to think of it from that angle. I took the pictures near White Pass, from the Rimrock Lake area. Great place to go be in the wild, not very many people out there at all. Thanks for the compliments--that old Dodge cleaned right up...

From that angle it looks a lot like Mt Hood; beautiful just the same.

Thanks--the chrome trim is new, the truck never had any door ding trim at all. The paint/body shop that did the work used the "Dodge" trim from their catalog of samples. I believe it is from the late model Dodge full size rigs and Dakotas.

I was wondering how it would look, you just don't know until it goes on. Interesting watching a truck get painted--the body shop owner was a friend of the family so he spent a bit more effort. Trucks "come apart" to get painted...I posted some in progress pictures... Don't be fooled by the before pictures--although it had little rust it also had little paint. I guess the paint did its job preserving the sheet metal, sort of a sacrifical kind of thing.

Seeing the truck bed removed reminded me why I didn't want to paint it myself--hard for one man to do that (remove a truck bed). It was also the perfect time to swap in the last remaining stainless steel brake pipe for the rear brakes. You have to take the gas tank out to do that if the bed is on the truck (or have elven assistance).

You can even see the Slant in the engine bay--it has enough room (almost) for two Slants. Some maintenance requires me to use a step ladder to make the reach inside (I need gorilla arms). I guess Dodge sized that bay for the biggest V-8 they had so it has plenty of room (at least until you want to wrench on something--then it has none, must be an imutable law of physics).

Hopefully someone might find these pictures useful...

interesting ya i know about the big engine compartment i can sit inside of it on the battery and take off the starter manifold ect. Truck beds are very heavy even mine i would think being a short bed thats where the truck gets all its traction
