I've got my truck running pretty good now , but havent got it on the road to dial it in . I need some tires and get plates for it .
My question is I have swapped for the HEI ignition ,and was wondering if I should just leave the computer on the air cleaner or take it off and seal it off with some sheet metal.
What have others of you done. I checked some JYs to no avail , I found 1 slant six and got the clip and spring for the kickdown linkage but the air cleaner looked to small .

I had the bottom of a 5-/4" air cleaner housing that I had in my scrap pile (junk yards are full of them). I run a Weber 32/36 carb so I cut out the old one barrel bottom from the air cleaner housing and welded in the 5-1/4" ring (it fits the Weber adaptor). I also tacked in some sheet metal to cover the Lean Burn Computer cutout hole (two or three screws and it comes off). I then used some JB Weld and Bondo, feather the sheet metal in, sanded it all, and painted the whole thing black.

Looks stock and I use the same air cleaner. I really did it so I could keep the snorkel air pre-heater. I am not a fan of chrome in the engine compartment so I spent the time to stick with something that looks original. You can do this with tin snips, JB Weld, Bondo, and patience--you don't need a welder. Home Depot sells small amounts of sheet metal to do what you want. Covering the Lean Burn hole is super easy.

The computer won't hurt anything by being there, but a sheetmetal blockoff plate would be fine and would clean up the underhood area a little.
