I used a stock Honda Civic gauge pod for the A pillar. It required adding a second layer of plastic under the center of the Civic housing as the curve on the Civic is a litlle tighter than the A body. It looks good. I wish I had the tchnical knowledge to post photos of the dash and gauges here, but I do not. I can take photos and e-mail them to someone else to post if they wish to do that.

Right now the dashboard area of the Dart is still all apart. I am repainting the stock metal, and the dash pad is off too. The only jobs left are to wire the new harnesses that come from car. Those on the dash pod assembly are all done. I used 3 different trailer hook up harnesses to get everything hooked up. I now have ten different gauges, and did not want to have to lie under the dash and hook them all up one by one.

Most gauges have light voltage, light ground, signal ground, and signal feed, and either switched or constant 12 volts (clock and radio)at a minimum. Some gauges such as the oil pressure, fuel pressure, and vacuum have a special connection that must be hooked up seperately. The new gauge panel has terminal strips on the back (my addition) for each of the standard feeds;lights, switched and unswitched 12v, ground and signal.

I knew this was going to be a big job when I took it on, but really did not appreciate how broad the scope of the work would get. It involved metal work, body work, electrical, and paint.

Sick6 your approach looks nice and can work great too. It is much simpler, and easier to get done, I am sure.

I just got a picture the other day from Gerald showing the gauges installed in the cluster. It looks amazingly like the picture at the beginning of this thread. :lol:

What about www.justdashes.com ? In the Mopar Action October-08 number theres an ad on page 96 about product news. They've come up with a dashpad, for all Dodge and Plymouth A-bodies from 1967-1974, that has 3-5 pods in the center for 2-1/16" gauges angled toward the driver. You can choose either factory or custom color on the vinyl.

I had seen the ad for the B bodies and was hoping they would add an A body version. I used Mark's gauge cluster, but I still have three gauges mounted under the dash. Time to start saving up again...

Those are great if you have a few accessory gauges, but it's much easier in an A-body to have the Tach gauge on the pillar, since it's easy to read while driving, and you occasionally have to look over at your side view mirror anyway....

Looks good.

I put a dash together like that 25 years ago. I used Stewart Warner Stage III gauges (no longer made). I was able to get amp/water/gas/oil on the left side tach/speedo in the middle and a vacuum gauge on the right.

I would really like to start a website for these things, but I still need to find some software that can stand windows vista. I miss the old "front page" software........

I like the pillar idea, but I kind of abandoned it a year ago when I couldn't get enough people to express in interest in having one (just like what happened with my console designs). I could probably make a one-off, but it would be cost prohibitive, but, if enough people said they would at least be interested in one, I'll dust off my old designs and tooling and see what I can come up with.

regardless, I'll still probably make some consoles at least in various forms, since I still need one for myself.

So if anyone has any questions about my custom plates or has any suggestions for the pillar or console ideas feel free to PM me and I'll get you my email address.

Is it possible to do anything with Vista? I'm not sure if this is any help or not but I did my site using Aplus.net I think it cost me about $10.00 a year for my domain name and $9.95 a month to host it plus they have hundreds of templates to help you create a good looking site.

Thanks Chris, I am already using them for my bands website over the years......I just didn't think they were up to vista yet since when I call them no one seems to understand me. :?

Vista sure is a boat anchor though.

Do you do clusters for 67-69 Dart dash (same as later?) and do you do them for '63-66 A-body dashes?

I'm especially interested in the earlier cars, but maybe my '68 Dart too (which, BTW, is living in Minneapolis right now).
