Hi all - I have a new tank for my 67 Valiant, (stock, slant 6) and I want to make sure I get the best & most complete sending unit. Prices seem to be all over the place; who do you trust, what should I expect to pay (quality - I only want to put it in one time), and what is my fuel line size (are they measured by outside diameter or inside?) ... thanks so much, as always.

5/16" is your fuel line size. The genuine Chrysler item (p/n 4051 004) is a known-good quality unit...see gasket and filter "sock" (strainer) info here.

I have one of the Spectre units, and it's worked flawlessly over the last year that it's been installed... you will have to bend the arm to be adjusted right, and the unit came with a plastic float... $8 at the ford dealership netted a replacement brass float... for a total out of pocket price of $84...

Scott, where did you get your new tank. Looks like I'm going to have to find one for my son's Duster.

DI, where did you get your Spectre sending unit?

Dan, thanks for the info.

Dan, thanks for the wisdom & numbers. And all the stuff I learn from your posts...

...and thank you DI!

74, I got my new tank on ebay from vansautollc. The 67 has a sideways strap & indent so I couldn't use one off of my parts car... I have a good tank in a currently running & driving 69 Dart that'll be sacrificed to bring the 67 Valiant back to life. I'm about an hour SW of Austin - where are you?

I've been to Wimberley before, very nice little town. The wife loved shopping there. I am about 1 hour north of Austin, right smack on IH-35, just north of Temple.

Are you saying the gas tank in the '69 Dart is available? How much?

I have one from another Duster that doesn't look very promising, I need to clean the inside and see if it is too far gone to salvage.

Yep, Spectra Premium is a reliable Canadian brand. You can get 'em from RockAuto, I believe.

And Autozone... if you get them to look down the screen hard enough....

(That's probably the only part they had that was "good")...
