have tired /6 in 64 valiant. have 75 duster /6 can I swap one for the other without changing the oil pan? To add ACshould I use a AC factory evaporator/heater box from a 66 dart with the vacuum lines & servos or use a simpler underdash aftermarket evap? Is some one still making the spacers that go on the nose of the torque converter when using a 70's engine on a 64 trans? thank you for your time. Rapid Robert bobc@inebraska.com

According to my parts manual, a '66 Dart or Valiant did not come with a combination AC/heater. There were several AC units listed, but they all hung below the dash.

I put a Vintage Air AC in my '64 Valiant and replaced the old heater box with thier combo unit.

I have an under dash AC unit that I am about to install in my 63.

If I didn't already have the unit, (I’ve had it for years and am just getting ready to install) I would look into the Vintage Air Combo.

Previously, I had one of these under dash units in the car and had some problems with interference with the gas pedal. This has to do with the angle of the dash where the unit is mounted in the 63. There is also an issue of ash tray and glove box opening clearance.

I plan to fabricate some brackets to solve these problems. I'm not sure if the same issues would be had with a 64.

Good luck,

John

You will need to change the oil pan and pick-up tube. (unless it is the small sump "F-Body" pan, that one can be made to fit the early chassis)

As for the adaptor ring, Wildcat Auto has them:
