Hello everyone,

Just a quick question before I run to the HD shop (the only place they sell bolt in inches here...) : are the caliper bolts all the same and are they standard or can I replace them by standard 7/16 x 20 by 1,75" long bolts?

The bolts are all the same but these are special "shoulder" bolts that locate the caliper in the correct position.

Doc, mine are old, and worn. Where can you get these caliper bolts? Mine are from a 74 Sebring, which is a B body. Do you think NAPA or Mopar sells them?

They must be shouldered bolts. The fatter, smooth part of the bolt acts as the sliding, bearing surface for the caliper bushings to ride upon, and are what tightens against the bracket to keep them from working loose, and falling out. There is just no other way to do this than with shouldered bolts.

You could make a set with standard bolts and stainless steel tubing. It would involve very carefull measurement and cutting, and the location of the correct size tubing. . I am hoping Doc comes back with a source.

I got replacements bolts for my '75 from Pep Boys (some years ago), but had to know what I wanted as they handed me the wrong parts. I just pointed to the ones they had hanging up on display behind the counter; the young guy behind the counter was surprised that I knew what they looked like.

In general, I now check anything I get from any of the discount chains (Pep Boys, Advance, ...) carefully before I leave the store; mixups and inexperience are quite common there.

Sam, you must be talking about sliding caliper.
The 4 pots K-H are nothing but good' ol' fixed pieces of iron.

The K-H 4 piston "fixed" caliper was also used on early Mustwangs and Vetts... so you may have better luck looking for those application to "cross" into the correct shoulder bolt.

Sorry about that, you are right. It sounds like maybe KBB was answering my question about the sliders. I will check with Pep Boys. I can see how the shouldered bolt would more securely index the fixed units. Maybe STainless Steel Brakes would have the slider pins as well. Sorry, I didn't mean to hi-jack the thread.
