Update:

The builder that put my engine together mounted the cam straight up.

RV15M Dutra Reverse Pattern.

Fopar and I degree'd the cam over the weekend, and found it to be 4° advanced from the 3° intake event at .050
We corrected that with a bushing.

The ignition timing needs to be addressed yet, and the engine is set up horribly rich. More tinkering ahead.
On the bright side, the engine runs much smoother. :D

Here are the worksheets on the 2 RDP cams I engineered with Erson.
Both use the old Mopar 244 duration exhaust lobe cambined with Erson's "RV" lobes on the intake side . (RV10 & RV15)

These are mild street cams, with a smooth idle and lots of low-end.
1 bbl should use the RV10 / 244 and 2 bbl can handle the RV15 / 244 combo.

How would these work with 170cid? I have super six and possibly headers, otherwise stock engine.

I would be in for a radical turbo cam... Any suggestions?

Just wanted to let you know that I called Erson today to make arrangements to send them a cam to be reground. When I asked for Tom, they said that he does not work for them anymore. I spoke to a gentleman named John Hartman and he was very nice to work with also. He said the group buy was still on and he was glad to answer my questions about my regrind. I just thought I'd let you know Tom was gone.

Thanks Rick, do you have contact information for John? I'll update the main post.

I just dialed the same number in your main post. Then they had a extension for "sales" and that is what I hit. I think it was ext. #1 but I'm not sure.

Sorry,
Rick

Glad to know they can still do it. They should have several patterns and combos on the books for us.

Thanks Rick,

I may take a few minutes to touch base with him and see what patterns they have stored from Doug and others and to just make sure this deal can continue to go on as long as possible. I never expected them to extend the group buy pricing to one off orders later on down the line, but they have done so and I will do my best to help insure that continues for as long as possible.

He did mention that they had several special grinds that they had done for our group. So maybe they will keep it going for a while.

They now have a cam on the books with these specs:

246/242 deg @ 0.050" (INT/EXH)
0.510" lift
106 LSA

centerline at 100-102.

This is their "big" Slant cam that they were selling through Summit, but with the INT/EXH durations flipped and a tighter LSA. This is more in line with what the big power makers have found is best. Good for 10-11:1 comp and 3000+RPM power.

Best,

Lou

I spoke with John Hartman / Erson yesterday, he was very helpful. As the conversation progressed, he commented that he (Erson) has not done a hydraulic slant six cam and that he needed a hydraulic cam to copy the oil groove that is in the cam journal. I had read through the Erson cam buy posting and noticed that Kfox had sent a hydraulic cam to Erson some time ago. I PM'd Kfox but have not received a reply, perhaps he is not active on this board anymore. Kfox's activity was before John H took over for Tom McGibbon, perhaps all info was not passsed on. Has anyone else purchased a slant six hydraulic cam from Erson? If not does anyone have a suitable hydraulic cam that can be sent to John Hartman. By the way the prices he quoted are the same as those listed in this blog.

thanks

None of the information was "passed-on" when Tom left but Erson still had all the lobe masters I sent them. After spending some time on the phone with John and sending him some of the lay-out work I did with Tom, he was able to "reinvent" and continue making some of the RDP street cams we developed.

Thanks goes out to Lou for doing the "homework" and getting Erson a bigger RDP design for the racers.

I just ordered a cam today, and the group buy is stillllll...going.

Talked to John and he was very helpful and wanted to make sure I had all the 'necessary info' to make sure my grind came out how I wanted it...

At the moment he said they are slow, but the 'summer build' itch has started and they are seeing some pickup in orders. He commented that at the moment, from me placing the order at 9am this morning I should see it on my doorstep next monday at the latest....John was worried that might not be fast enough, I told him no worries that's pretty fast since I 'pre-order' weeks in advance before building...

Price for custom cam grind, lifters, and shipping came to $182.50 to Ory-gun....
(which is about 50 skins cheaper than that leading competitor without lifters...)

I forgot to ask the price for an alloy billet blank...(I'd bet he'd probably be silent for a few minutes...then have to get a reality check on that one....LOL)
