I know your trigger happy with the paint but may I suggest - get it out of the pulley groove or else it may ruin the belt or at least cause it to slip.

if that is original paint or an acrylic 1 step, don`t put clear on it might lift the old paint.

after josh and terrylittlejohn's advice i am only going to wash and wax the stock paint. here is the k-member and other parts all painted up pretty.
i also took advice from my friend and mentor ceej about using oven cleaner. i think it was in on of his posts. it seems to be cleaning up that nasty oil pan really nice and quick. i used my autozone credit to get my a nice elderbrock air cleaner, so my orange super six one is up for grabs (THOR HAS IT NOW) anyways here is this mornings pictures and progress. i still have SO many questions, i wish i knew what i was doing.
but i am learning a lot about the parts and i find how the engine works extremly cool.

it looks like the channel that guides the dipstick to the sump on truck base pans but car pans don`t have them?

Midi,

Those metal pieces may be from the #3 main bearing thrust faces. You'll know more when you pull the main caps.

Nah, you just might need the crankshaft that Duster Idiot offered.

you shouldn`t need cam bearing unless you are hot tanking the block. if everything is good when you take it apart just high pressure and degrease the block and a hot soapy bath and blow dry, it`s good to go.

Nope, no cam bearings, unless you change to D.I.'s cam that he offered, which, is your decision, but keep in mind, we may not have the tools handy to pull those and put new ones in. We really need to take a Micrometer to all that stuff before you order bearings and whatnot, to make sure the ones you buy arent going to be lunched by a non-stock measurement. We also need to Mic the cylinders, to make sure they dont need to be bored/honed. If they do, you are looking at starting a few hundred dollar project here.
