I was wondering if anyone knows what to do for aftermarker gauges like tacho speedo, oil lamp, fuel, alternator, etc?

I was told id need cables that match the aftermarket gauges, but the problem i have is "will the other end fit into the said trans, engine, battey, alt, etc?"

When you get the gauges just get the appriate sending unit for your application. All the intrument manufacturers also have matching senders. Youll have to modify your panel wiring but everything should work. Speedometers can be found in either electric or mechanical versions; again, just be sure to get the correct cable or adapter for your transmission. Tachometers simply wire to the ignition system so no sending unit is required.

Growing older is unavoidable but growing up is strictly optional.

Let me explain my situation folks: My OEM ((From 71 :p)) Instrument cluster hardly works ((only 25% of it works)). I am soo far trying to look for a better performing OEM instrument cluster, And if i cant find a oem one ill have to start fabricating stuff and making aftermarket gauges.

So thats basically my situation.

If you were more specific about what problems you are having, a soulution might be easier to find. For example, if it is just your fuel and temp gauges not working, it may be the voltage regulator that plugs into the back of the instrument cluster.

A tach is easy to install, buy a small tach, run a wire from the tach to the coil (can't remember if + or - side) there should be a body plug behind the parking brake you can run the wire through, then one wire to power and one to ground. A common place to mount is on the windshield pillar. Make sure the tach is set for a six cylinder.

An aftermarket fuel gauge, find the sender wire from the fuel tank, cut and splice into your new gauge, hook power and ground. Place where you can see it. A Mopar fuel gauge is 73 ohms full/10 ohms empty (or vice versa)

Mechanincal temp gauge, run the gauge hardware through the firewall and just screw the gauge sender into the head. Electrical temp gauge, screw in new sender into the head, run wire to it, hook power and ground

Or, like I did, get a panel from Sick6 and put all your new aftermarket gauges in your dash.

Here's a GPS SPEEDOMETER that doesn't need a cable to the transmission.

Kinda pricey, though.
