Hi all,

I talking to Wilcap about Aluminum flywheels. If I can get a group order together, we can get them for $300.

Interested? If so, let me know ASAP, and whether you want big crank hub or small.

http://www.wilcap.com/FW.PDF

Thanks,

Greg

What's the time frame for this order? It's $300 plus shipping correct? What forms of payment are being accepted?

Hi Josh,

I would like to get commitments in the next 2-3 days. Yes, $300+shipping+tax. If it is me that is going to be the organizer of this, I would prefer check, or if somebody really wants to do Paypal, we need to figure in the stupid Paypal fee as well.

EDIT:

If there is enough interest/commitment, I will see if I can get Wilcap to let everybody pay individually to them.

Thanks,

Greg

Pardon the stupid question, but would this flywheel work in front of the T-5 conversion I've been collecting parts for? If so I might be interested. I'm cash-short, but stupid Paypal would allow me to charge it to a credit card. :)

I've never done any work on a manual tranny car, I just like to DRIVE them, and understand the basic principles of how they work.

I am doing a t5 conversion myself, as is Menko, based on Lou's conversion ( all three of us are on board), so, yes, it will work with the T5 conversion.

Yes Vynn. I have a stock dimension alum fly (as the Wilcap one will be) on my '64 Dart with T5. Has been working great. Just looking for a new one for the next T5 swap...

Okay, I'm in, IF I can pay via Paypal. Maybe if I keep stumbling on enough of the parts by accident, it'll FORCE me to do the swap someday... :)

A little OT, but can anyone come up with some kind of template for a T-5 crossmember? That still looks like my biggest hurdle...

Lemme know when and where to send the $$$, and thanks for your efforts, gmader!

It isn't as bad as it seems. If you want some ideas, I can help. One question- Can you get access to a MIG welder?

Greg

I have one new and in the box... Now if I can just learn to use it...

I've been looking for some local welding classes, with no luck so far. Guess I'll have to teach myself. Look out, world!

So far, we have
Greg M.
Menko J.
Lou M.
Vynn3.

Any other takers? I would like to get the logistical part of this started. I am thinking about ways to keep Sales taxes to a minimum, since several of us live in CA, and others do not.

Thanks,
Greg

So, $309.27 by my calculations. (Plus credit card interest, but that's MY problem, huh? :) ) And shipping, of course. Shhh, don't tell my wife, (I've still got bruises from the bellhousing group buy!) but I'm in! Lemme know when to send payment.

Will it have the Dual pattern Pressure plate Mounting Like the MCleod Piece that I have in my dart? I am in for one if it's SFI and can mount a Ford 10' PP.

Hi Greg,

This will be a plain ole flywheel, with stock pressure plate holes and all other details, just made out of Aluminum. I haven't asked about SFI, and I doubt that Wilcap will pay for extra certifications at this price.

Right or wrong, I am trying to keep this group buy project simple and fast. I watched the fancy connecting rod buy and a bunch of other proposed projects come and go on this board, and in each case, we ( all of us slanters) wanted something special or different or extra, and couldn't come together on the details and make it happen.

That being said, there is absolutely no reason that you couldn't get a flywheel, and get it drilled to another pressure plate bolt pattern. They will be made out of AL, and should be easy to machine or change. Also, if you want, you can contact Wilcap, and get one done as a special project for you.

Hope this helps, and sorry if I am disappointing you or others.

Greg ( the other one)

Gregs,

I'm also interested in the Ford pattern. If Greg O calls Wilcap, see if they will do yours and mine with that Ford pattern for an extra fee.

I will try to call as well.

Lou
