From Woodburn this past weekend:
Saturday: 19.653 @ 68.94MPH - time trial
Sunday: 19.265 @ 70.05MPH - broke out on a 19.32 dial. But, .001 R/T!

SO FUN!!! Can't wait for Medford, hopefully I'll be adding some more times here.

Glad to hear you're having fun with the Slant racing Stephanie! :D :D :D

Be careful though, you'll catch the "I gotta go faster" bug.

:D I've been infected with that bug for a while now. I'm just patient enough to realize that before I can make my car go much faster, it needs better (safer) brakes and suspension.
Til then, I'm just trying to get in as much "seat time", as Glen Terry calls it. Even if my car only runs in the high 19s, racing's still racing and it's still fun.

Congrats on the fun weekend and the "benchmark" times for your car.

Cheers,

Lou

You'd be amazed how much fun you can have with a high 19 second car. When my Duster was all pretty much stock it ran 19:60's/70's and was feared among the local tracks. If you can find the key to making it consitent you can drive a lot of people crazy.

I never could figure out how to keep from breaking out either.

Thanks for the picture, Paul!
Yeah I should have had my car warmed up before the race.. but I didn't have time and the carb bogged off the line..
Meh.. there's always a next time though.

Medford Drag Strip, 23 Aug 08:
18.889 @ 69.58 MPH, .001 R/T

THOR and I speculated and experimented a little at Medford, and he figured out my transmission is shifting way too early. I installed a tach after Medford, and saw that my car is shifting from 1 -> 2 at about 2500 and 2 -> 3 at about 3100.
The time listed above was one of the experiments where I manually shifted from 1 -> 2 (then quickly into D so the trans let itself into 3) when the RPMs sounded right, at about 35 MPH (didn't have a tach then so not sure of RPMs).
After talking to Doc we pretty much figured that there needs to be some tweaking on the sweep of the Lokar cable most likely at both ends.
This should be done by Redding, so we'll see what I run there.
