I just discovered that my brother's van needs new ball joints on the front. Upper and lower on both sides. Now I know why it would rattle going over bumps.

Anybody have any tips or tricks to hep the installation process go quicker, easier, and cheaper?

Thanks!

No problem. The thing is, I am doing all the parts and labor for free on this repair marathon. I want to keep it as cheap as possible, but i also want to get my driveway back. That being said, if I can find a shop to do it cheap, I might go that route.

Reed I wish this didn't involve a 1/2 way across the country road trip, cuz I'd like to say, "bring it over here". I could use some legal advice anyways; the subject, I do not believe, is state specific. Thats a fairly easy job, (for me anyways) I have the stands, the jacks, the compressor (air), the pickle forks, the socket for the uppers and the "C clamp" style press to do the lowers on the van, w/o having to pull the cont. arms and do them in a press. Everything needed to do that job and then some.

Thanks for the offer Don! I actually got the ball joints and the special tool for the uppers today. The lowers actually look OK so I am going to leave them alone.

Success! I got home from court this morning and spent about 2 hours replacing the upper ball joints. Not too bad really. Except for when my 1/2 inch drive ratchet broke.....
