I am getting more serious about replacing the original engine in my 36 Dodge with a slant six. Other than the local junk yards, are there any remanufacturing businessess that I can get one from? This being my first project, I need as much opinion and info as you can muster. Thank you.

Where are you? If you're within driving distance of Chicago I have one I'll give you. (170ci)

If you are on the West coast, I have a few Slant "cores" I can part with.
Call around, ask people, put out the word for a SL6 and you will find one.

Don't pay too much, (if anything) the Slant is a pretty common engine and most guys pull them out for V8 swaps.
Lets face it, Mopar made over 12 million Slant Six engines over a 36 year period so they are around.
