Well, trying to get a new sensor and not having much luck at the moment. Anyone have some numbers that will work?

Just tried to order at Rock Auto, factory number does not come up. Tried the ATS9 number I read on this site. That shows only a 2 day delay so ordered it. Just got this message back: # ATS9, is currently unavailable...

Cheers

Factory P/Ns are available only from the dealer. Use p/n 4342 765 at your local dealer or www.chryslerpartsdirect.com .

Hey Dan, thanks for the response.

Not able to physically get to the Dealer unfortunately. Tried that Chrysler Parts Direct and the number does not come up. Know of any online supplier that I could get one from (or an aftermarket replacment number from somewhere that is a can use type part)?

Cheers

Damn, you're right...Chrysler have NS1'd all of these temp sensors, some of which were used as recently as 1995 (oops, that's my skewed chronological perception again...1976 is a "late model" to me, and I forget that 1995 was fourteen model years ago  )

Now I think of it, I actually may have some of these, new. How quickly do you need one?

I remember recently buying the last 3 that Carquest had in their NW parts warehouse... with a 'not made anymore' note on any cross reference in their books...

time to start digging for more of 'em

Sitting here at 4 AM it suddenly dawned on me to have a look at Standard online and see what came up for the ATS9 through their online buyer guide.

On the listing there is a long list of vehicles the sensor will fit with year models. I randomly picked an '85 Dodge van from the list and looked it up on RockAuto. Picked a slant for an engine and then under Emissions found the air cleaner sensor. Comes up as an AC Delco part no 2134376. The AC Delco online part book did not have a picture for it to see what it looks like, but thought I'd give it a gamble and ordered one. If it isn't right I can at least return it.

I'll post either way on what I find as it might be at least another potential source.

I thought about copying the page from the Standard catalogue and posting it, but probably a copyright infringement issue so decided best not too.

Here is the link to the page. Will probably not work right as I've not read the in's and out's of posting links etc. (sorry), but I'm sure someone can get it to work and hopefully others will find it useful.

http://www.standardbrand.com/web_app/ca ... gbulk.aspx
EDIT: HA, LOOKS LIKE THE LINK WILL WORK, BUT IT WON'T BRING UP THE PAGE I WANTED. CLICK THE LINK, INPUT ATS9 IN THE SEARCH BOX AND CLICK TO SEARCH. WHEN THE PAGE COMES UP THE LISTING OF WHAT ALL IT FITS WILL BE TO THE SIDE OF THE PICTURE OF IT.
Thanks again for your help everyone.

Cheers

Hope that works and you get your sensor. Fact is, all of these sensors were made by one company and purchased/sold by Chrysler, Echlin, Standard, ACDelco, etc. That's why parts like this seem to dry up from all sources simultaneously, with the differences in availability for the last year or so being down to who has stock remaining in their warehouse.

Yes, had the same thought. Seems most things are only made by two or three people and then boxed or reboxed in a different brand. Once got a batch of switches for the old Mini, all of them in Rover boxes, but inside was another box with the switch in labeled Land Rover with their part numbers etc.

So far the AC Delco seems to have gone through without a cancel notice like I got for the ATS9 Standard number. Just got a shipping notice through Rock Auto for it so we will see what comes in.

At least the linked listing might help find other part no.'s that may work for different years while supply lasts. Either that or is a decent resource for the scrappie next time someone goes.

Probably not a fast moving part for anyone. Most diy type car owners are probably doing well to replace the air filter. Remember from the parts days it was always a bit of an explaination and sell to get many to change a crank case breather filter or pcv valve.

Cheers

MoparBrit or SlantSixDan,

Do you have the number for the air cleaner hot air door switch/opener?
Are those still available? I need to fix a couple stock air cleaners.

Thanks,

Not sure they are all one size fits all type things, but thought I saw that somewhere. I'll have a look and see what I can find on my end, but I bet Dan has the numbers right off. Might be a day or two my end as 20th anniversary today and have family in town so schedule is a bit off at the mo.

Cheers

Still not found the number for the inlet air door part. Sorry, Ted. Will still keep looking as I know I saw it somewhere in my searches.

Got in the ACDelco 213-4376 which was supposed to be the cross for the ATS9 sensor. Totally different part! What showed up was a threaded thing that looks like black plastic and looks very much like a larger coolant temp sensor. Has a spade terminal on it etc. So back to the drawing board there!

Cheers

I confirm I have a pretty good supply of the Mopar type air cleaner temp sensors. I won't be able to get to them (physically) for about two weeks, but I will be able to furnish them. At the same time I'm going to do some visual comparison to other sensors (GM etc.) to see what else will fit.

As for the snorkel damper actuators: As far as I can tell, the ones for Chrysler products haven't been serviced by the aftermarket in years, if ever they were. GM vehicles used their own AC-made ones, but Fords used actuators that look to be of similar dimensions to the Chrysler units. I may have a few new Ford ones that could likely be made to work successfully.
