the position of the brake light switch bracket is adjustable, loosen the screw and it slides back and forth.

I dont think i can Adjust the bracket, the only thingi can think of is bending the bracket with a hammer or something that pushes it hard. I dunno, if you all can show me with pictures as to where to adjust it ill try that as well.

Look closely at the top side of the bracket, there is a 7/16 head bolt (1/4-20 unc) that holds it to the peddle support bracket.
Loosen that bolt so you can reposition the switch.

i tried the switch bolt ((if there was one.)) and the bracket bolt that connects to the support, and none of thems eem to do diddly squat.

Whenever i adjust it, it works fine, when i drive it for even 5-10 mins, the adjustment becomes null and void, bribnging up the same problem AGAIN

If you have adjusted it and it works fine then stops again it may be a bad contact in the switch. Try spraying some contact cleaner in it.

Or as Dan has suggested you might have to buy a new one.

My brake light would stay on every once and a while, so I had to take it off, bend it, and reinstall it. That did the trick. I think it was from 34 years of standing on the manual brakes to bring it to a stop.

Standing on the brakes will not bend the bracket. The pressure on the switch is released when the brakes are applied; the rearward pressure of the pedal arm against the switch is supposed to turn the lights off when the pedal is released.

0h, well the way it was attached it looked like when the brakes were pressed, the button was also. I guess not. That thing sucked to get out.

ON all my A bodies, the brake pedal mount had a slot in it, and when you loosened the bolt you could slide the bracket for and aft. I think on a late body A body I had once the switch was threaded and turned in and out, and then locked with a nylon nut. There is a switch which likely just like your available from Cole Hersey Co. www.colehersee.com It is part number 8713, and says it replaces four Chrysler numbers, they would be 2258864,2496985,249712,2580998.

Yeah its actually a 'press to break' switch. When the pedal comes back up it presses the switch and breaks the contact which then turns your brake lights off.
