Greetings from champion raceway in Medford.


The engine's got about 150k.... it sat for 5 years in a field, and has been run really low on oil once, and overheated twice.

Im starting to wonder about that ballooning torqe converter though.... all 4 of his torque converter bolts mysteriously came loose on the way down... and I know they were tight, tight as I could manage to get them.

I crawled back under there once we got here to the dragstrip and re tightened them, again as hard as I could, but this time with a socket from underneath, as opposed to a wrench from up top. We'll see how it goes.

The shim for the bypass was probably a bit much.

Time for a new oil pump anyway I think. Get with Doc. He builds a prepped unit that will be the ticket.

Your engine needs some machine work. I'd like to Mic' it again to make sure of the numbers I was getting.

Josh: I'm pretty sure it'll hone for standard and be in spec. We need to verify that again. Neil chased THOR over a pass at high speed on the way down, so it didn't do the car any favors considering.

He also ran pretty hard out of Medford judging by the time it took before he called me 120 miles away, so likely heated things up pretty well before it started blowing oil..

Definitions on being easy on an engine will vary. In order to protect a new build, perhaps Goldyn should drive the car for the first thousand miles. :lol:

If someone is going to drive it and break it in absolutely properly, I propse that the engine be placed in my car, so I can take care of it, since I drive alot anyways. I've broken in my fair share of engines, so I know the procedure pretty well, and I can get it all ready for whatever is in store for it after it would leave my possesion.

your transmission has a number of small pipe plugs in the side near the pan that are used for checking pressures, that will be a good place to start. stick a gauge in there and take some readings. but i would think that the seals would blow out way before the converter starts to distort. who knows~

You've got to be kidding. Do you have any idea how rude and ungrateful your whole post here comes across...?

Let's review the events so far:

1. Your engine fails.

2. A whole bunch of people on here pull together, donating parts, time, effort, knowledge and work to get your car put back together on an impossibly tight schedule. You are specifically told to take it easy on the rebuilt engine.

3. You rev the snot out of the engine and otherwise reef on it.

4. The engine fails.

5. You come back here and issue orders as to who may and may not reply to your latest plea for free help.

Way to throw a whole bunch of goodwill right in the faces of those who gave it to you, mister. You need to think very hard and very carefully until you can see at least three things wrong with the tone and content of this what you've posted.

Not to really be cracking wise there hopscotch, but...

Since I donated you an all iron Melling timing chain... is your brother going to actually shell out the $134 for a Rollmaster double roller?... because I have 'the other' silent chain he's going to get which is a 'dynagear' unit that also comes wrapped in a few other 'labels' boxes... so there are only a couple of 'proper' OEM replacement silent chains (Melling/Dynagear), after that you get the $$$ double roller chains... so what 'IS' his definition of a proper timing chain??? A MP double roller that was discontinued 10 year back? A chinese replacement that will let you down as well? (For a brother whose shop left you with a 'welded' spindle I'd really be asking what he is about to put in 'YOUR' engine... that's like asking your neighbor the fast food specialist if chemotherapy is going to really help your cancer situation...)


I think at this point you might take a moment to put racing last, and get your occupation in order to pay for doing the things you "need to do"... "wanting to do" is a priority way down the list...
