Started taking apart my front suspension today to rebuild and change over to front Disc brakes when I tried to take out my Idler arm bolt it hits the oil pump :x .Is there any trick to get this out or do I have to raise the engine or take off the oil pump? thanks Richard

Loosen the motor mount bolt and tilt the engine up. You can get the bolt out w/o removing the oil pump.

The bolt goes in like that to keep it from falling out if the nut comes off.

Does anybody ever put the nut on top? It does have a castle nut and cotter pin. Or is this a considered too dangerous.

I found a cheat. The bolt hits the pump cover so I looked in my repair book shows no springs or anything that would pop out just the gear and cam so I took out the 4 lower bolts and loosened the top one and pulled the cover away a little, got a little oil(1/4 cup maybe) held gear in place took cover off pulled bolt out switched idler arm put bolt back in replaced cover and done. After I finished suspension started car checked for leak from pump none yet.I did check with kragen auto and they can get the O-ring gasket for the pump cover $1.49. :D
