It's always nice to find a source for improved parts, but I took a different route. When I installed my SuperSix, the only gasket I could find was the thin steel one and it was a joke.

I called a gasket manufacturer in Dallas and asked if they had any hi-temp material that was thicker and could be compressed. He did, and I bought enough to make a half-dozen gaskets for about $2. I used the steel gasket for a pattern. It's been on for nearly 2 years and absolutely no leaks.

I don't know what the material was, but it looked like the white Mr. Gasket header gaskets I used buy, and was about 3 times as thick as the steel. It looks like it compressed about half on installation.

does anyone know if these work in later model manifolds (87 b150, for example) that have the stuff in the middle? Do I need the stuff in the middle?

I guess if I did need the stuff in the middle I could sandwich a steel gasket between two of these and machine the manifolds to compensate for the added thickness.

Anybody know?

All slant-6 manifolds take the same gaskets.

What "stuff in the middle" are you talking about?

Oh! I see what you're talking about there. No, don't worry about it; use the good gaskets without the "bridge" across the middle of the hotbox gasket. Everything'll work fine and it'll seal up well.

If your castings are a little pitted and rough the extra thick RemFlex gasket sure does a good job for the hot box seal.

Hi. I did it too, ordered the Aussie Manifold gasket. I found them excellent to work with. Great communication. They emailed me back to confirm my order, and I had made an ordering error and had paid with PayPal. Well, they handled the change order and the money part with PayPal expeditiously and within a couple of weeks I had a set of gaskets.
I installed an aluminum intake with standard cast iron exhaust as a unit. Once it was properly fastened, everything worked fine. So no complaints, mates!

Now the Green Car is back on the road.
Hop On fellow toaders.....

And PS. a guy on ebay is selling 60-61 "carpet" (the black mat) for $14.99. I bought one, it was as advertised, not perfect but not bad either. I dropped it in the Green Car and it is worth it. Looks great and she definitely dropped a few decibels.

Hey Guys Just letting you all know we've just updated the Slanty combo which now includes a exhaust manifold to exhaust pipe flange gasket as with anyone needing the hotbox gasket will also need this recently made for us gasket..

Guys were always available for any complaints or suggestions let us know I've already had a few guys ask for thicker gaskets & thus far our manufacturer is hesitant as all their test materials keep disintegrating from vibration due to the high graphite content needed to make them "softer & thicker" so we've also got him looking for an material that will make these better than they are currently etc..

We've also just released a slanty head gasket & also in an "Ultimate /6 Gasket Combo" now available too..
