Some of us never handed any paperwork in.....

(actually it turns out Im an inventor.....cuz I mostly dont care how/why it works)

The paperwork was there to make you think and lay out the overall structure. It's a bit more relaxed in real life.

Sandy, you have the distinction there. The inventor just wants to make a new device and learns enough background to do that. The scientist wants to understand everything about how it works and why.

Empirical, controlled observations are very powerful, but theory can really save you a lot of time experimenting.

Experimenting is the most funner part......calculus not so much.

.....all kidding aside my intuitive approach to design has a high failure rate......with a high satisfaction quotient.......and no boring stuff. Too bad I have a limited budget.....

Math makes inventions cheaper......

Since I am not a scientist, most of the details that you guys spout go right over my head. The theories sound intelligent and I've heard of the Laws of Physics. But after reading many many firsthand reports from HHO users, one could believe that by hooking up a simple device they are getting better gas mileage. I say "believe" or trust (like believing in God), it could be true. There are many unexplainable things in this world.
Unless you actually hook one of these up to your slant six powerhouse, how will you know? If they get enough increase in gas mileage and save at the pump who cares if there's a little more pull on the alternator? The initial cost of the thing will be saved and maybe the environment will be better off.
How come I never hear folks talk about the benefit to human beings in terms of health due to cleaner burning cars? Our health care costs and doctor bills will decrease dramatically if our air and water are cleaner. It is a pocket book issue as well as a greenhouse gas/global warming issue.

You are correct there are many things we don't know in this world.

I am prepared to believe that a properly set up and maintained system like this could give some gain. I am skeptical about it, though, so I would rather put my time and $$ into something else I think has a better chance of working. Until I see some controlled testing that says it works...

An example of this is EFI. There is plenty of documented data that EFI saves gas and makes the car more tunable and driveable, and so I am willing to spend time+$$ to convert my cars.

Pres Carter said that turning down our thermostats was the equivalent as war with the OPEC nations. Because we were shifting from an oil producer to an oil consumer. So what did the Government support? Big Oil.
I find it hard to believe that thirty years after the first oil embargo, we have nothing better the fossil fuel burning engine? I'm sorry, there are too many smart people out there. If we launch the next generation car before offshore companies do then dollars would be flowing back into this country. How about exporting cars instead of bombs. Talk about a change, how about a future?

Yes, we would all do well to use less energy with available technology (thermostat), and invent some new things to help us do that.

It will take some hard work.
