WOW Josh! neat project....and I think that 55% rear weight is a great start.......you will be 60' ing better with this set up versus the front drive setup. My '86 GLH Turbo with 22x8x15 slicks did a best of 1.89 60'....anyway you might motivate me into doing a 2.2 or 2.5 rear drive early 70's A-body..........it would be neat to see 2 cars like this battle it out on the strip. I can't wait until your GLH is done! Good Luck with it...nico

Nico,

Thanks for the encouragement. I know doing this will upset some FWD lovers, but the car wasn't a very nice example and had already been cut into before I got it. I would like to try for a slant six drag record, but that goal will take some time. As it stands I have not done much in the past few weeks as I took the Valiant out for the Medford race and have been working on my Dart as well. Initially the car will likely have a high compression 198 with a ported head, Clifford intake and Clifford long tube headers. Might throw some nitrous at it too since I have most everything to use it. That 10.943 A/Nitrous record looks pretty tough, but A/Gas at 11.557 looks tougher. A is 2,000-2,349 lbs, BTW. Hopefully it ends up on the light end of the A class.

Josh,

Keep it up. Would love to see you go for a record with that sucker. Try to get to 2000lbs w/driver and you might have a shot at A/Nitrous or A/gas. However, there are several people who have run a lot faster than the record, just haven't reset it officially. Mr. Slantzilla may go for it when he gets his FWD conversion car going...

We need more people trying to go faster and don't care as much about bracket racing, IMHO!

Lou

That's an interesting project Josh. Hope it works out well for you. :D :D :D

My Daytona is a Shelby too.

I'm not sure I can get mine light enough to get into A, but we are sure going to try.

I am trying to talk Mike into putting his good nitrous motor in my car so he can try for the record again too.

One afternoon at the Pick-n-Pull I slipped some Dodge wheels onto a
Supra and started thinking the same thing.
