Well, I think my fate is sealed -all the parts collecting- obsessing over my car & all the things I want to add to it, the justifications to my girl friend that I am not "wasting" my money.
They all seem to lead to the same road..er...track...that I will eventually realize something that I really have been wanting to do for a long time, which is.. going really really fast in my car.
I searched the site a bit but it was hard to weed out anything pertaining a complete beginners guide.
Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Just show up to Redding, I would bet quite a few people would give you some very good advice... and like anything... you'll probably get hooked.
You don't have to have a fast car to have fun...

Not sure if this will help you out but http://www.nhra.com/basics/index.html

On the left column is a bunch of other basic info. Nothing specific but it may help narrow down the questions you need to ask.

Like everyone else says, just come to Redding.. I just sort of showed up at my first race with no clue of what was going on, it's pretty easy to get the hang of.

The links were helpful, thanx, and Redding...I am trying to make a Valiant effort to get there (sorry I couldn't resist).
Iv'e been tinkering away getting my car roadworthy for a five hour drive so I am hopeful, but if not I'll drive my truck up there.
Im anxious to see some slant six racing, meet you people and put some faces and rides to these words :D . I guess I will see you peeps in Redding.

There is nothing like a trip to the dragstrip to help satisfy a "need for speed".
