So, long story short, I have a '70 Dart with the front end out of a '75 Valiant and a sway bar to fit the '70 Dart. Problem is, the tabs on the LCAs from the Valiant don't line up with the ends of the bar. I believe the reason is that the tabs were in a different location on the '70 LCAs. Does anyone have pics of '70 LCAs with sway bar tabs? I still have my 1970 LCAs, but I need to know where to put the tabs. Also, where can I get tabs to weld on? Would I be better off just making my own, or is this something readily available?

Thanks in advance,

Nat

70 amd 75 sway bars are not the same. I have a 70 sway bar and a 74 sway bar in my garage and they are not even close to the same size. One, i dont remember which off the top of my head, is much wider.

The '70 is the wider one. I can't use the one out of the '75 because I'd need to change my K-frame as the bar actually goes through it. I figure welding some tabs on to my spare set of LCAs would be easier, but I'm not 100% sure where to attach them.

Thanks,

Nat

70 LCAs with tabs are out by the ball joint. later LCAs with tabs are more towards the middle - think near the big rivit.

The Addco bars use a angle bracket off the lower shock bolt.

Might help, might not, just something to think about.

The lower shock bolt is too far inboard to work with the '70 sway bar. Are tabs something I can buy or do I need to make them?

Thanks for the replies,

Nat

When I fitted a late 70s cop car bar (I also used a 70 ton press to narrow the bar 4" at the lever arm ends, but that's another story) to a non bar equipped 67, I welded 2" wide plates (straps) across the legs of the K frame to mount the bushings not unlike the factory setup. However instead of bolting the bushings directly to them like you would to run the bar through the K frame, I made up struts from long bolts and small flat plates just large enough to mount the bushings on (look at a stock axle mounted rear bar), to allow the bar to hang about 1/4 to 3/8s inch below the K frame center. Drilling holes in the straps the same diameter as the threaded portion of the bolt used as a strut, and using two nuts and thick washers allowed me to adjust how far the threaded portion of the strut bar (bolt) extended through K frame plate while bolting them solid. I also made up my own welded on control arm brackets from thick walled rectangular tubing and made up my own end links to allow the bar to hang level at ride height.

Mind you, I did all this long before guys like Dick Ross at Firm Feel started manufacturing anything you might need to add bars to a non bar car if you'd rather use your checkbook.
