I need to buy a new front windshield for my 74 Dart Sport. Who manufactures quality front windshields? Please no Chinese junk.

I had a Pilkington windshield put in my '76 Dart Swinger last year. My only complaint is the blue tint across the top. I was told all clear was still available, but would have been an additional $100... Only one or two tiny nicks that I am aware of so far.

I don't know about Pilkington but I wouldn't be surprised if they are made in China now. Almost half of PPG glass is now made in Chin. The low volume part numbers would be the most likely candidates for offshore manufacture.

Yeah, it's getting harder and harder to avoid Chinese-made glass. :-( That makes it more important than ever to get your glass through an official distribution channel for one of the major, established name brands, because a lot of counterfeit parts come out of China and this particular one is a life-safety issue.

There's also a fair amount of glass being made in South Africa, if I'm not mistaken (DK?), and I would generally not have a problem accepting it as long as the particular piece in question is of good quality.

I'm not aware of South African glass but I wouldn't be surprised. As of a couple years ago all GM glass was coming from Mexico; I don't know if that is still the case.
