I got bigger than stock rims/tires 14x6s with 195/75R14 tires in the rear, and 205/75R14s in the front. Im going to go bigger in the rear. Where is a place to find a new speedo gear in the trans? My speedo is quite inacurate and jumps around a lot.

Also, whats the biggest tire size you recommend for my rims?

Thanks! :D

Your speedo is inaccurate and jumps around a lot, but you're worried about more inaccuracy with a tire change?

Regardless, the speed difference with almost any tire you mount on a 6" rim will be negligible. A 215/70 would be about the widest I'd use with that rim. The Tire Rack lists wheel widths for every tire size.

I want my speedo to be accurate again, so I was wondering where I can get another gear. I will get this after I get new tires.

The jumping around of your speedo can be fixed. SSDan did a step by step on how to clean and relube the cable. Search for it or maybe Dan will give you a link.

If after cleaning and lubing it still does the same thing, you'll probably need a rebuild. Dan recommended Denver Speedo - I've had 2 speedos rebuilt by them. I'm sure he can provide a link to them as well.

You need to know your rear axle ratio and the diameter of your rear tires before you can determine which speedometer drive gear you need. Use this chart or similar to determine the correct number of teeth for your application: CHART HERE

I have a few extra gears on hand if you want one for cheap...

Here's a nice website for comparing tyre sizes. Also has a rim width calculator for any given tyre size.
http://www.alloywheels.com/tyrecalc.asp

I've used 225 tyres on 6" rims without any problems.
Yokohama say you can put their 235/60 tyre on a 6" inch rim, and their overall width is actually 245.
This is the tyre I'm talking about, not sure if it's available in the US. http://www.yokohama.com.au/ourtyres/tyr ... tyreid=179
