Just got back from Japan so will add to the discussion on Redding. It was poorly run at this race but previous races have been much better and the track has really given us some financial discounts. When the track has other venues which this time was the 'king of the hill' event, as well as their Cool April Night races, there are two or three times the car count as usual so therefore this compounds the potential problems. I think we need to give them another "chance" but maybe should try to schedule our slant6 race when they are not having one of their "feature" races. Seymour over the winter is working on some race changes that may delete one of the two races at Redding and we may add Sacto or another at both Woodburn and/or Samoa. Jet lag cometh...Wayne

Speaking of scheduling races when there aren't "big dogs" at the track; is there any way to have Medford not coincide with the AA Gassers? The race fee for Champion Raceway during their ET Championship Series is only $30 for Sportsman as opposed to $75 for the NW Reunion featuring the Gassers. This would also eliminate any question of whether or not they'd gripe about the late model brand-X car I'm planning on bringing out with slant 6 power as the ET Champ series is not '72 and older like the NW Reunion event.

HI Josh: Again, if we want a two-day race, we have to take one of the few times the track offers a two-day race. The $75.00 fee is for two days of racing which includes two days of tech fees. In the past , I think we have settled the 72' and older thing...Since we run our own show on one of the two days, it doesn't matter what year you bring...Jim Taylor also told our group that on Sunday where we run with any of the other Inliners (if they show up) that any slant6 car from any year will be okay. The 72' and older was his attempt to stop the later foreign cars from running with the inliners. Any slant6 car can run with us and also in the Inliner race on Sunday. Hope this clears this up...Also, the track puts up $500.00 in cash for the Sunday race.
I think the sportsman $30.00 is just for one day of racing...
Could you find out what they charge at Woodburn for two days of racing for the Inliner race for me...If Woodburn is only $30.00 for two days of racing, then I can use that to try to get Medford to reduce their fees. Anyone remember what they charged at the last Woodburn race for two-days of racing including admission? Take care and see you next year..later, Wayne

Wayne,
Woodburn has a $65 for the two day race, and a $10 number fee (the number is for the whole year). Also the owner will allow any year slant to run with the inliner/flathead race on Sunday (he said they have no way to see if a car has paid only one day or two days).
Hope this answers your question.

Richard

Ahh, I didn't notice that Champion had Saturday and Sunday as two different races. So much for the savings.

I'll be back to Champion Raceway. So far I feel they have the nicest folks and the organization is a close second to Woodburn. We'll see if anyone at Champion says anything about a 1987 Mazda with a slant under the hood. I've already said my bit about Redding.

Woodburn published $65 for racers, $10 for camping and $5 for children age 6-14, but I'm pretty sure I paid $70 total for Bert and me. That's comparable to Champion. For me though Woodburn means 500 miles less driving so it is a much less expensive race to attend.

And Wayne, thanks so much for all the work you do to make slant six races happen. We'll see if I can't do better than 14 points in '09.

Hi Josh: Thanks for the updates...no problem with the Mazda..We can pair you up with Fopar to really confuse the track people. They are so accomdating and did we mention they buy us all dinner with live music on Saturday night. New showers and a car show ...Can't wait to see your new "ride"...take care...Wayne
