What was a Holley 1-483 2 barrel used on and is it as good as better or worse than a carter BBD? Just saw one on E Bay and have not heard much about it here. Thanks

1-483 is a Holley sales number for a Model 2280 Type 9712 carb, originally sold as a service replacement for the original-equipment BBD on '78-'79 Super Sixes. It'll fit and work fine. The 2280 and the BBD are both solid designs, and have their respective benefits and drawbacks. I'm guessing you're looking at this auction; the seller is reliable but very picky and likes to hear his keyboard rattle (just look at his auction text that goes on and on and on in hard-to-read all caps and multiple colours :roll: ). Also, his opening prices and buy-it-now prices have jumped way up recently. Either I haven't been charging enough for my new carburetors, or he's struggling to find a way to pay his mortgage! :shock: :twisted:

In a nutshell,

BBD= More power
2280 = better MPG

Actually the 2280 I had when I first did the 2bbl conversion was both! I still have it out in the shop. The throttle shaft is worn badly. It was probably off a 318.

Yes Dan that is the one, nice use of colors and caps. Not going to bid on this one was just wondering if it was a good option for a 2 barrel set up.
Thanks for the responses
