Does anybody know what the color codes are for the '63 Valiant emblems? If no codes, any suggestions for close matches? You know the red and blue 'V" on the grill, trunk and hubcaps seen here.....

You can get very close to original with very easily purchased Chrysler engine blue and Chrysler engine red in rattle cans.

Easy enough. I might have both of those already! Thanks Dan!

Here's what I did..I completely cleaned the emblem with soap and water then removed the old paint with fine steel wool. Then, I bought Testor's Model Master paints: Chrysler Engine Red (PN: 2732), Chrysler Engine Blue (PN: 2730), Black Chrome Trim (PN:2735) and a fine point model brush. Then spent an evening meticulously repainting. Let it dry overnight, lightly sanded it with 600 grit sandpaper, followed with a Meguir's cleaner wax. Here is the result:

i agree. unfortunately testor's model paints do not hold up to the outdoors or sunlight well at all.

i would use the emblem until the paint flakes off, then do it over with engine enamel.

good brushwork btw.

Looks good. Would it maybe hold up better by masking it off and spraying some clear over the paint?

Well, I hope it holds up for a while. Although I did enjoy doing it, I don't want to have to repeat it right away. About the clear coat, I was planning on hitting it this weekend! Hopefully that'll add some life to it.

The trunk lid "V" emblem on my '64 has no paint. Is it supposed to?

Yep, just like the emblem shown in the pictures in this thread. Half blue and half red. (If you reverse it so it's half red and half blue, I promise not to tell ;-) )
